The Illusion of the Ideal Body
Salaaz Newsletter: Week 67
Models for clothing are paid to show off clothes on bodies that are almost physically unattainable. Often they include surgery, Photoshop, starving, and so on, and as a result, the vast majority of people looking up to these ideals are left in dismay. A study reported that 53% of young girls at age thirteen are unhappy with their body, and this increases to 78% by the time they reach seventeen. Being insecure should not be the norm. One way to earn is by feeding off people's insecurities.
Many Victoria's Secret models report extremely restrictive diets, cutting calories in order to achieve desired thinness. But it turns out that these diets are too extreme, with former models such as Adrianna Lima emphasizing how she does not want to give that sort of message to young girls.
Said by Cicero perfectly, “One should eat to live, not live to eat.” In other words, one should not restrict diets to an extreme level. Unfortunately, some diets are quite extreme, eliminating entire food groups and claiming to be healthy. Here is what you should know about them.

Keto Diet—The Weight Loss Wonder
The keto diet, one that eliminates carbs such as bread, rice, and pasta entirely, is said to significantly reduce weight. The keto diet forces your body to use stored fat. However, this diet is associated with liver and kidney problems and nutritional deficiencies.
Fruitarian Diet—The “cure”
An influential, restrictive diet known as the fruitarian diet is one where you are only to eat raw fruits. There are claims that this diet cures chronic illnesses and diseases such as cancer; however, this is not supported in research. In fact, this diet would lead to severe malnutrition, with fruits missing many necessary key nutrients such as protein, iron, calcium, vitamin B, and omega fatty acids.
Carnivorous Diet—The placebo
Like other extreme diets, those who decide to eat only carnivorous foods do it in the name of miraculous health benefits. Many of these “benefits” are largely unsupported by research; in fact, this diet increases your risk of heart disease due to its high fat content.
The Scientifically Proven Ideal Diet
According to research, the best diet is not one that eliminates a food group but rather balances healthy fats, meats, carbs, dairy, fruits, and veggies. The Mediterranean diet is consistently ranked as the healthiest diet. It is known to support healthy blood sugar levels and reduce your risk of cardiovascular diseases. Below is a food list to follow for adopting the Mediterranean diet.

Notice: The best diet does not restrict any food group
If you are following a healthy diet, one that is backed up by science, not placebo, and getting an average amount of exercise daily, your health is in better hands than a Victoria's Secret model. The truth needs to be told, and it is that an ideal body is attainable with a reasonable diet. Ultimately, real progress begins when companies stop profiting from illusion and insecurity and instead commit to honest representation that prioritizes health, transparency, and the well-being of the people they influence.
